Connecting your Pinterest account

Link your Pinterest account to Social Valet so pins can be generated, scheduled, and published alongside your Instagram and blog content.

Social Valet publishes to Pinterest directly, so pins get created, scheduled, and pushed out from the same platform you already use for Instagram and blog posts. Connecting Pinterest is a one-time setup and takes about a minute.

Before you start

  • You have a Pinterest business account (personal Pinterest accounts don't support the publishing tools Social Valet uses)

  • You have login access to that Pinterest account

If you don't have a business account yet, Pinterest lets you convert a personal one for free in your Pinterest settings.

How to connect Pinterest

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Platform Management.

  2. On the Pinterest row, click Connect.

  3. You'll be redirected to Pinterest to sign in.

  4. Approve Social Valet's access when Pinterest prompts you. This grants permission to publish pins and read your board list.

  5. You'll be returned to Social Valet and see Pinterest listed as connected.

You can also connect Pinterest during onboarding using the Pinterest toggle. The connect flow is the same.

Configure per-connection settings

Once Pinterest is connected, open the Pinterest row in Platform Management to set:

  • Whether pins auto-publish or wait for your approval. If auto-publish is off, pins land in Needs Approval and don't go out until you approve them.

  • How pin scheduling should behave. Aligns with your account's overall publishing cadence.

  • Which boards Social Valet is allowed to publish to. By default, board assignment is automatic based on the pin content and your board list, but you can restrict it to a subset if you'd rather.

You can update these any time. Changes take effect on the next pin generated.

Set your Pinterest brand voice

Pinterest pins read differently from Instagram captions. Head to Settings β†’ Brand Voice and set your Pinterest voice section so pin titles and descriptions come out in the tone you want. You can also set your Pinterest website-link preferences here to control which of your URLs get used in generated pins. See Training your brand voice for the full walkthrough.

What happens next

Once Pinterest is connected, any album you set to publishing will start generating pins in addition to Instagram posts and blog posts. Pins move through the same lifecycle: Needs Approval β†’ Approved β†’ Scheduled β†’ Published. See How Pinterest pin generation works for the details.

If something goes wrong

  • Connect button redirects you back without a connected state. Pinterest may have shown a prompt you missed. Click Connect again and watch for a permissions dialog on the Pinterest side.

  • Pinterest says your account isn't eligible. You may be on a personal account. Convert to a business account in your Pinterest settings and try again.

  • Connection succeeds but no boards show up. Your Pinterest account may not have any boards yet. Create at least one board in Pinterest and refresh the Platform Management page.

  • Connection expired. Reconnect from Platform Management. Your Pinterest brand voice section and website-link preferences are preserved.
