Connecting your WordPress blog

Connecting WordPress lets Social Valet publish blog posts directly to your site on the schedule you approve. You can connect during onboarding or anytime from Settings β Platform Management.
Before you start
You'll need three things from your WordPress site: your site URL, your WordPress username, and a WordPress Application Password. If you've never generated an Application Password before, the steps below walk you through it β it takes about a minute inside your WordPress admin.

How to connect
Go to Settings β Platform Management (or follow the prompt during onboarding).
Click Connect Wordpress.
Fill in the three fields: Wordpress Site URL, Username, and Application Password. Use the walkthrough below if you need help finding any of these.
Click Connect Wordpress.
Once connected, you'll see your site listed on the Platform Management page.
How to find your WordPress credentials
Step 1: Copy your site URL
Open your browser and navigate to the homepage of the website where your WordPress blog is hosted. Copy just the main URL from the address bar β for example, https://yourwebsite.com β without any additional path or page after it (not https://yourwebsite.com/blog/my-post). Paste this into the Wordpress Site URL field.
Step 2: Find your username
In your WordPress dashboard:
Visit your site's admin area by entering your website URL followed by /wp-admin (for example, yourwebsite.com/wp-admin).
Click Profile.
Locate your username at the top of the page.

Copy your username and paste it into the Username field.
Step 3: Generate an Application Password
While still on your Profile page:
Scroll down to the Application Passwords section.
In the New Application Password Name field, enter: Social Valet
Click Add New Application Password.
Copy the password that appears immediately after generating it.

Paste this into the Application Password field in Social Valet.
Important: This password will only be shown once. Be sure to copy it before leaving the page.
Configuring auto-publish and auto-approval
After your site is connected, you can choose whether Social Valet publishes approved blog posts automatically and whether new posts skip your manual review. Both settings live on the Platform Management page next to your WordPress connection. See Auto-approval: when to turn it on for guidance on whether to enable it.
If something goes wrong
If the connection fails or your credentials are rejected, double-check your site URL (root domain, no trailing path) and confirm the Application Password was copied in full. If it still won't connect, reach out to support and we'll dig in.
